Port of Morrow was recorded in Los Angeles and Portland over the course of 2011 with James Mercer as usual handling all songwriting duties, lead vocals and the majority of instrumentation. The album was produced by Greg Kurstin and mixed by Rich Costey.

An exact release date as well as touring plans will be announced shortly. As with the dates earlier this year, the upcoming tour will see Mercer leading a Shins lineup of Yuuki Matthews (bass), Jessica Dobson (guitar), Richard Swift (keyboards) and Joe Plummer (drums).

Frustrated residents in St Kilda are trying to ban outsiders to try and kurb their alcohol related problems.

A meeting between residents and local MP Martin Foley raised the following possibilties;

*Cancelling the St Kilda Festival because residents objected to the crowd the final day's street party attracted.

*Banning backpackers from the suburb because many were too boisterous.

*Banning non-residents from entering the entertainment precinct at night because police data suggested most of the troublemakers lived outside the municipality.

*Fitting residents with ankle bracelets to distinguish them from visitors.

*Banning venues from serving alcohol after 11pm to avoid drunks roaming the streets all night.

What the F#!k? Its another case of a minority of narrow minded people trying to ruin the fun for everyone else.

On Monday 30th June, in Sydney, the Sydney City Council will decide the fate of The Imperial Hotel. A handful of recent arrivals are trying to prevent the re-opening of this venue, which is not only a fantastic gay pub, but a key supporter of charities such as ACON and The Luncheon Club.

Lets hope that sanity prevails in the case of The Imperial, if you are in Sydney and want to attend the council meeting here are the details;
5pm, Monday 30 June, Town Hall House,456 Kent St, Sydney
(Also if you do attend, there is a request that you wear something pink)

As for St Kilda, would you want to wear an ankle bracelet if you were a local resident, just to distinguish yourself from a so called trouble making backpacker?
